Team Tasks and Ropes Course

Team Tasks and Ropes Course

Set within 200 acres of Hampshire’s most beautiful woodland, this centre has been serving the learning and development needs of organisations since 1985. The style is rustic and relaxed, with log cabins and wood burning stoves, and the courses are designed to provide a highly enjoyable and memorable experience. Action based activity is acknowledged as the most effective method of learning, and there are around 40 different team tasks alongside the comprehensive low and high ropes course. All activities require more brain than brawn, so everyone can take part, irrespective of age and physical fitness.

Team Tasks

This activity allows teams of 6-10 people to tackle various physical and cerebral tasks which take 20-30 minutes to complete and review. Variety is an important element in the design, and teams can expect to face tasks which will challenge and develop their ability to work together effectively. We will select your tasks based upon the event aim and objectives.

The tasks are all different, and will typically enable the team to review issues such as trust, motivation, planning and brainstorming, communicating and understanding one another better.  An experienced instructor/facilitator accompanies each team throughout the morning. For a competitive edge, teams may compete for points, awarded according to how successfully tasks are completed.

There are around 40 tasks in all, a selection of which are listed below:

All Aboard

A problem solving and bonding task with a difference

Mohawk Walk

Develops team support

Blindfold Maze

Great fun, while challenging our ability to communicate

Ravine

If we can brainstorm and plan in a tight timeframe we can get the team and the bucket of water over the ravine

Steeplechase

Do we co-operate or compete as we try to solve the problem?

Holey Tube

Only real commitment by all will enable the team to win.  It is about forming a good plan, then trusting all members of the team.

Parallel Crossing

An excellent task to look at leadership within the team.  Highlights the importance of managing the task whilst understanding the team and individual needs.

The Network

If we can get some synergy into the team, we can get the big bang!

Wild Woosey

A trust building task, relying completely upon your partner for success.

Minefield

A problem solving task in which the whole team’s cooperation is essential.

What is a Ropes Course?

A Ropes Course can be defined as a series of supervised individual and group challenges which promote a combination of teamwork skills and individual commitment. It is a flexible facility which has been designed to meet the needs of the users. Challenge by Choice is in effect at all times – no-one is ever forced or pressurised into doing something they do not wish to do. Effective participation on a Ropes Course programme is not dependent on strength or personal level of fitness. A sense of adventure and the ability to have fun are essential.

Elements are classified as being either high or low - the latter are usually less than 1 metre from the ground. Courses are constructed from rope, wire and wood and where appropriate, comply with all relevant British or European standards. High elements are used in conjunction with climbing ropes, safety harnesses, helmets and other equipment more commonly associated with rock climbing. All elements require the group to work effectively as a team to achieve a successful outcome.

A Cavendish Event Manager will accompany your group throughout the day to ensure the smooth running of your event.

We can also arrange bushcraft sessions which involve shelter building, fire lighting and cooking meals in huge cast iron pots, and tracking the local roe deer and other wildlife that is plentiful in these woods. Our instructor, whose experiences in Kenya during the 40s, 50s and 60s have given him much to bring to the bushcraft discipline, is one of only a handful of people to have attained his bushcraft qualification from the Institute of Outdoor Learning. The activity is both fun and also offers some powerful team and personal development. Please contact us for further details.
